FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 23, 2014) – After leading Mississippi State to a 34-29 upset victory at then-No. 8 LSU, Dak Prescott has been named the Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week for the fourth week of the college football season.
Prescott, who appeared on the Davey O’Brien Award’s preseason watch list, has used both his arm and his legs to help Mississippi State (4-0) vault from unranked to 14th in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Against a highly regarded Tigers defense, Prescott netted more than 200 yards passing (268) and 100 yards rushing (105) for the third time this season. The junior finished the evening 15 of 24 with two touchdowns and no interceptions and also scampered for a 56-yard score.
For the season, Prescott ranks third nationally in points responsible for (90), eighth in passing touchdowns (11), 11th in passing efficiency (178.4) and 12th in total offense (335.5).
In four games this season, Prescott is 58-for-96 for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns against just two interceptions. He also has amassed 378 yards rushing and three touchdowns to go along with one 24-yard touchdown reception.
