FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 17, 2014) – The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Marquee Matchups for week four of the college football season include a Thursday night battle between two dual-threat quarterbacks leading their nationally-ranked teams as well as a Big 12 Saturday primetime clash between players coming off award-worthy weeks.
Throughout the season, the Davey O’Brien Award will highlight the best weekly quarterback matchups as the race for the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award continues. Quarterbacks from all 128 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, Nov. 3.
Marquee Matchup #1: No. 5 Auburn (Nick Marshall) at No. 20 Kansas State (Jake Waters)

Kansas State’s Jake Waters ranks among the nation’s top 15 in rushing touchdowns with four in just two games. The senior is averaging 96.5 rushing yards per game to go along with 231.0 passing yards per contest for the 2-0 Wildcats.
Senior Nick Marshall is the third player in Auburn history to eclipse the 2,000-yard passing and 1,000-yard rushing plateaus for a career. He is coming off a 103-yard rushing game, and has a ground score in both of the Tigers’ games this year.
Marquee Matchup #2: No. 4 Oklahoma (Trevor Knight) at West Virginia (Clint Trickett)

One of seven sophomores on the Davey O’Brien preseason watch list, Oklahoma’s Trevor Knight has accounted for six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in three games. Through the air, he has connected on 60 of 101 attempts for 860 yards.
Senior Clint Trickett is the reigning Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week after a 511-yard, 4-touchdown performance. The West Virginia star ranks second in the NCAA in completion percentage (75.4) and third in passing yards (1,224).
